Description:

This hydraulic roller long block is rated to 2,000 hp. We switch to a mechanical roller cam and Jesel shaft rocker system over 2,000 crank horsepower, so that's a different long block.  But let's focus on this one for now. Before getting into the details, let's hear what Cutaway Racing has to say about this bad boy which he dubbed "Peanut Butter & Jelly".

The Dart SHP LS Next engine block is a major improvement over a GM block. The skirted design allows it to accept OE-type oil pans and accessory drives.  Its key performance features include: longer cylinders than GM blocks; priority main oiling; stronger, solid main saddle and splayed main caps.  We replace the main bolts with main studs for more reliable clamping. For this build, we machine the block and heads for 1/2" head studs. These provide 40% more clamping force than the the 7/16" head studs they replace. 

The rotating assembly starts with a 4.000" stroke, Callies Apex center counterweighted crankshaft paired with Ultra Enforcer connecting rods.  The eight counterweight design increases crank stiffness by 25% and reduces the harmonics that induce flexing. Riding on the rods are 4.125" Diamond Race Series LS dish pistons.  This combination yields a 427 cubic inch displacement.

On top are our BRE-machined All Pro Retro cylinder heads filled with the parts you need for maximum performance.  We start with raw castings so the ports, runners and combustion chamber are all custom. While we prefer LS7 ports, we can machine LS3 ports into the heads if that's what you need for your existing intake manifold. The port work does not change the valve angle which will remain at 12 degrees on the LS3 variant.  The All Pro's are assembled with Inconel exhaust valves and Severe Duty Manley intake valves capable of holding up to boost and live a long life driving on the street. 

Comp Cam's BSR shaft rockers provide valve train stability for the hydraulic roller valve train.  This is a big help at higher rpm. Sticking with hydraulic rollers saves the pain of periodic valve lash adjustment required with a mechanical cam.

  • Callico coated Clevite bearings
  • Cometic MLX head gaskets
  • Billet double chain timing set
  • Manton pushrods with upgraded tips

The price of this long block includes a naturally-aspirated break-in dyno using a shop intake and Maxima Racing break-in oil. This assures that pistons rings are properly seated, cylinder walls are loaded up with zinc and all parameters such as cylinder leak-down are correct.

We strive to keep the required components in stock and the lead times short.  This long block is used on a lot of our builds so it is often on the floor and available for immediate shipment.
