Off-roading and watersports come in a lot a flavors, but there are common themes of quality, durability and power for the engines.  

• they need to be able to operate in difficult environments,
• withstand a serious beating time after time,
• generate lots of torque at low rpm to get those props spinning or big tires kicking up dirt, mud and sand.

Whipple superchargers excel in this environment. We pair them with our super-stout LS engines and electronics that will survive the challenges of off-road and marine environments.  The 4.5L supercharger is the largest and most capable offered by Whipple for the LS platform. They have come in various configurations over the years but all delivered similar performance. The rear air inlet of this supercharger allows the engine to bring in air from a more protected area.  We would mount earlier front-feed models backwards to achieve that effect.

The LS engine is a great platform as it offers exceptional value as measured by $/hp. It is compact, reliable, durable and can handle a lot of power.  There is also great aftermarket support. We build ours to last by using parts we know can handle a lot of power that we source from top-quality supplers like these:

• Dart Machinery: LS Next SHP iron block upgraded with P1 Manufacturing main studs 
• Callies Performance: Apex 8-counterweighted crankshaft and Ultra Enforcer rods both made from high-grade Timken steel alloys
• Diamond Pistons: custom pistons with premium rings and H-13 tool steel wrist pins
• COMP Cams: custom ground hydraulic roller camshaft and BSR shaft rockers
• All Pro Cylinder Heads: Borowski CNC ported LS7 heads assembled with Manley valves and springs

The custom black anodized serpentine comes with a 225 amp alternator, remote PS reservoir, OE diameter ATI balancer with10-rib belt and billet bracketry.

This 427 cubic inch engine and 4.5L Whipple supercharger combination generates more than 1,000 lb-ft of torque across the rpm band from 3,600 - 6,600 rpm, and does it on pump gas. Its hydraulic roller design means you won't need to be adjusting valve lash.

The included FuelTech 550 engine management system with integrated display comes preloaded with the tune from your dyno session.  These units are waterproof (IP67) and feature a robust wiring harness to handle challenging evironments.
