1,800 hp Twin-Turbo, Hydraulic Roller LS Engine - Complete

The engine in the photos and videos was featured by Dart at the 2016 PRI and written up by LSX Magazine in an article entitled Borowski Race Engines’ 1,540 HP 427 Dart LS Next At PRI 2016 . Technology and parts availability have changed since then and so has our recipe. The net result is that the current version is even stronger and more capable than the original build as seen in the video below.
This is a custom build based on a common foundation of parts we keep in stock. In this manner, we can deliver and engine built for you quickly. That is a rare thing in this time of supply chain disruption.
Since this is a twin turbo build, let's start with the 76mm Bullseye NLX turbos. These are full ball bearing designs - no thrust bearings, no journal bearings. The patented high-efficiency compressor blade design and tuneable compressor cover cannot be copied by Bullseye's competitors. Did I mention these turbos are manufactured in the USA? The short block starts with a Dart SHP Pro LS Next block and our precision CNC finish machining. The rotating assembly combines a Callies' Magnum center counter-weighted crank with their Ultra I-beam rods topped with Diamond pistons. The crank's 4 inch stroke yields 427 cubic inches displacement. Both wet and dry sump systems are available. The wet sump pan is chosen to your vehicle needs. A Dailey dry sump however is the ideal choice to properly lubricate your engine and turbos.
We strengthen and stabilize the valve train with COMP BSR shaft rockers. All Pro cylinder heads with our CNC porting and valve job machining provide unrivaled strength and performance.
The ideal choice of intake manifold depends on a variety of factors including: choice of fuel(s), under-hood space availability, and personal preference to name a few. Because we are tuning down the engine to not exceed 1,800 hp, performance differences are not that important as they would be in a max effort situation. A little bit more or less boost get us where we need to go.
We have a range of great options available such as the purely functional elbow intake on the first-in-class engine to the the automotive jewelry of a custom billet low-rise intake designed to fit under the hood of C6 Vette. A Holley Hi-Ram with built in liquid-to-air intercooler is a great choice for running gasoline. Talking about fuels, we can provide 16 injector designs to give wide flexibility in fuels with tunes and fuel injectors to match.
Our top-of-the-line serpentine system features AC, PS and a 225 amp alternator to keep all your electronics going. The AC can be tied into an optional interchiller to keep your air intake temps down.
Perhaps no where has technology changed more than with the electronics. The standard engine management system is a Holley Terminator X. It can be upgraded to the Terminator X-Max to also control your automatic transmission. Most of our customers opt for the Holley Digital Dash as their primary instrument panel and EMS interface. A big jump up from there is the available Emtron system with a much more powerful ECU and breadth of capabilities. It offers torque control, traction control, cruise control and a host of other features that are particularly beneficial to turbocharged engines.

As shown in the video, our break-in tune yielded an awesome 1,540 horsepower with two 76mm Bullseye TCT turbos on race fuel. 1,800 hp is the limit for how far to push the hydraulic roller lifters before moving up to mechanical lifters. Using the included Holley engine management system, boost can be easily dialed back to suit a pump gas tune for street. We did the tuning on our engine dyno and provide the tunes for your fuel combination with the engine. The self-learning Holley Terminator X will adapt and adjust after installation as it learns your vehicle and driving conditions.
Let's talk big-ticket performance parts. The foundation is the recently introduced Dart iron LS Next SHP Pro block that we upgraded with 1/2" head bolts and our precision finish machining. This block has the same high-nickel metallurgy as the original LS Next but is fully skirted and able to accept OE accessory drives, oil pan and oil filter. The engine will come a GM oil pan to fit your already LS equipped vehicle. You can also get the optional Holley retrofit oil pan for LS swaps or a Dailey dry sump oiling system if you are planning for some serious motoring. The rotating assembly combines Callies' Magnum center counterweighted crank and Ultra rods with Diamond pistons to provide a 4 inch stroke and 427 cubic inches displacement. All Pro heads with our CNC porting and valve job machining let this bad boy breathe. Another new feature is the COMP BSR shaft rockers which do great job stabilizing the valve train. We have replaced the elbow intake and are now offer a range of intake manifolds to suit your needs and taste. The standard choice is a Holley Hi-Ram which will accept the optional 417 Motorsports liquid to air intercooler. This may be exchanged for a FAST polymer intake in either the regular or high-rise configurations. An optional billet low rise intake is also available.
Our top-of-the-line serpentine serpentine system features AC, PS and a 225 amp alternator to keep all your electronics going. The power steering pump can be ordered with the fittings to accommodate a Hydratech braking system with remote reservoir. If you are tight on space, we also offer the Holley Premium mid-rise bracket-less accessory drive.
The standard finish is black for the engine, accessory drive and intake manifold. Polished finishes are available for all these components as well as for the turbos. This is a piece that not only delivers the wish list, it looks great too!
