This 555 cubic inch BBC long block is built to handle serious boost. It features top quality parts conbined with precision CNC machining and assembly that was recognized by Engine Builder Magazine's with their top award.
The foundation is a Dart Big M, 10.2 inch tall-deck block with billet steel main caps for extraordinary strength. The block undergoes multiple machining steps on our 4-axis CNC which has a precision of 0.0002 inches before moving over to our diamond CNC hone. It is there where the cylinder walls receive a boost-specific surface finish to ensure perfect ring seating,
The rotating assembly is designed to be extremely robust by maintaining a stock stroke and beefing up the pistons rather than adding stroke for more cubic inches. We believe this geometry is considerably stronger and better able to handle boost and survive over the long term. We use a Callies Magnum crank and Ultra Enforcer rods with BRE-custom Diamond pistons which are all computer balanced on our Fentech balancer.
We buy the Dart Pro 1 heads as porter castings and use our 5-axis CNC to machine in our proprietary ports and conbustion chambers. Our Newen CNC is used for the bowl blending and valve job with a precision not obtainable using traditional machinery. They are filled with Dart stainless steel and Inconel valves.
The valve train starts with a BRE-custom COMP mechanical cam that uses an LS firing order. The Jesel Pro aluminum rockers are actuated by Manton pushrods and BRE-custom needleless mechanical lifters with bronze bushings.
Cometic MLS head gaskets are used to provide the best possible sealing of heads to block. This seal is enhanced by the precision decking we do on both mating surfaces. These MLS gaskets are intended to be low maintenance but do effectively the limit of boost.
The optional billet Plazmaman intake brings a lot to the party in both function and appearance. The 5 inch inlet and 16 injector set up assure ample supply of fuel and air. It has a low profile for enhanced hood clearance having been modeled from its LS sister designed to fit under the hood of a C6 Vette.
