BOROWSKI RACE ENGINES, INC. - LIMITED WARRANTY for UNITED STATES and CANADA
Crate, Custom or Restoration Engine, Part or Assembly
*To initiate a warranty claim, please contact us immediately at 815-727-2727. BOROWSKI RACE ENGINES, INC. (BRE) authorization is required before any disassembly or repairs are initiated to diagnose the failure. NOTE: Your failure to call BRE and receive authorization before any repair work is performed will invalidate your warranty claim.
Who is Covered
BRE's warranty obligations for any BRE Crate, Custom or Restoration Engine (“Engine”), Part or Assembly (collectively “Product”) are limited to the original owner of the vehicle in which the Product has been installed by an ASE certified or BRE approved mechanic, and whose owner has signed and returned the Warranty Registration Card and other documentation required to activate this warranty. This warranty is not transferable to a second owner and is secondary to all other warranties and manufacturers’ recall that may be in effect. THIS LIMITED WARRANTY ONLY APPLIES TO PRODUCTS INSTALLED FOR THE PURPOSE OF RE-POWERING ON-HIGHWAY CARS, TRUCKS, MUSCLE CARS, OR HOT RODS FOR TRANSPORTATION USE. The limited warranty is not an unconditional warranty against all hazards or failures. This limited warranty shall not apply to defects or conditions caused by misuse, abuse, mis-application, mis-installation, modification, or accident after you received the Product. The limited warranty shall also not apply to any Product that has been installed in any application that is used or could be used for competition purposes. This includes but is not limited to, Off-Road, Sand Car, Boat, Air Boat, Road Race Car, Pro Touring Car, and Drag Car. Any engine rated above 1,000 hp shall be deemed as intended for competition purposes.
The Warranty Period for Parts, Assemblies is 6 months. Custom, Restoration and Crate Engines with power adders (boost, nitrous oxide) have warranties terms of 1 year or 12,000 miles, whichever is less, starting from either the purchase date from BRE of the Engine as shown on your BRE Invoice -OR- BRE shipping Bill of Lading evidencing the proof of purchase date, whichever date is first. The warranty term for Crate Engines without power adders is extended to two years or 24,000 miles, whichever is less.
Owner Obligations and Procedures
Engines must be primed with oil prior to initial startup. Ultimate purchaser/owner shall assure that an ASE certified mechanic inspects your engine, which inspection should include, but is not limited to a change of oil and oil filter after the first (25) hours. Carefully monitor coolant and oil levels for the first 100 hours as oil consumption may be higher during this period. The owner and/or operator is responsible for checking and maintaining ALL fluid levels before and during operation, for regularly monitoring gauges during operation. Change engine oil every 3,000 miles, 100 hours, or 6 months whatever comes first. Maintain a documented maintenance schedule including the company performing the services, corresponding receipts, and dates. Allow the engines coolant and oil to come up operating temperatures before the engine is placed in a high load or high RPM operating condition. DO NOT OPERATE MOTOR VEHICLE WITH ABNORMAL OIL PRESSURE OR WATER TEMPERATURE. BRE recommends against the use of non-detergent oils, the used of which by the purchaser shall void this Limited Warranty. Due to the manufacturing techniques, the quality of products used, and the initial break in performed at BRE, very few special requirements apply to break-in. After initial startup avoid excessive RPM and vary engine RPM range for the first 5 hours of running time. High engine RPM operation may damage your new engine through friction and high temperatures. Also avoid long periods of idling. All motor vehicles should be equipped with gauges or lights to indicate engine temperature and oil pressure. Premium 91-93 octane fuel is required for Transportation engines. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
Important Notice –Tuning, Fuel Supply and Cooling
High performance engines are highly sensitive to tune (timing, air-fuel ratios, etc.). BRE engines are factory tuned for optimal results. Any unauthorized changes to the BRE tune invalidates the warranty. High performance engines require more fuel to create the additional horsepower. The combustion of that fuel generates proportionally more heat. Inadequate fuel supply will starve the engine of fuel which can cause the air-fuel ratio to lean out and may cause immediate engine damage. OEM fuel pumps and cooling systems must be replaced with aftermarket products capable of delivering proper fuel supply and cooling.
Important Notice – Emissions and Other Requirements
Federal, state or provincial laws, rules and regulations in the U.S., Canada or elsewhere may prohibit the removal or modification of components that were installed on motor vehicles or engines by the original equipment manufacturer in order to meet emissions requirements or to comply with safety regulations applicable to engines or vehicles manufactured for use on public roads. Removal of such components and installation of BRE Products may be illegal and considered to be emissions-related tampering under applicable laws, rules and regulations.
Important Notice – Effect on Other Warranties
Installation of BRE’s Products (or similar products from other manufacturers) on a motor vehicle may void, reduce or otherwise adversely affect any warranties given by the manufacturer or seller of the vehicle, engine or other component parts. BRE shall not be liable for any such adverse effect on such other manufacturers' or sellers' warranties.
Limitation of Liability
BRE has no responsibility if customer-supplied parts are the cause of the Engine failure. If a BRE purchased part fails under manufacturer’s warranty, we will replace that failed part and supply labor at a reduced rate. IN NO EVENT WILL BRE BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR ANY INCIDENTAL, INDIRECT OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ANY DAMAGE TO YOUR MOTOR VEHICLE, OR ENGINE OR ANY FINES OR PENALTIES, ARISING FROM OR OUT OF THE INSTALLATION OR USE OF A BRE PRODUCT, EVEN IF BRE HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. IN NO EVENT WILL BRE’S LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE AND STRICT LIABILITY) OR UNDER ANY OTHER THEORY OF LIABILITY. TOTAL BRE LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED 40% OF THE AMOUNT PAID BY YOU FOR THE PRODUCT. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.
Please inspect the Products immediately after receiving your order. Any damages or evidence of tampering on the outer packaging must be noted on the delivery receipt of the driver. ANY DAMAGES MUST BE REPORTED TO BRE WITHIN 48 HOURS of your receiving the item.
When you present us with a valid, properly documented warranty claim during the Warranty Period, we will, at our option and sole discretion, repair or replace the defective component(s) covered by this warranty. Anything we replace under this warranty becomes the property of BRE. Any component(s) we replace under this warranty will be considered part of the original Engine and will assume the remaining Warranty Period for the Engine.
When an Engine is correctly and completely installed, BRE will cover defects, subject to the exclusions and limitations identified in this warranty, in our materials and workmanship during the Warranty Period, as solely determined by us. BRE warranty coverage provisions as follows:
- Engine repairs totaling $499 or less (based on the total repair estimate) will be reviewed by the BRE corporate office. If approved, a BRE approved repair facility will be authorized to complete these repairs. Any repairs costs exceeding $499 for completed repairs at a facility other than the BRE build facility in Rockdale, Illinois will be the sole responsibility of the customer.
- Engine repairs totaling $500 or greater (based on the total repair estimate) will be reviewed by the BRE corporate office. These engines will be required to be returned to the BRE build facility in Rockdale, Illinois to complete warranty repairs. Removal of the engine, proper crating of the engine and reinstallation of the engine once returned will be the sole responsibility of the customer. BRE will incur the cost to pick up the crated engine, ship to the Rockdale facility, repair the engine and return to the customer when the repairs are complete.
*Note: Engines that are removed to be sent back to the BRE facility MUST be completely intact and not disassembled unless authorized by BRE prior to shipment. Unauthorized disassembly will void the warranty. Improper crating of the engine causing damage in shipment to the BRE facility will not be covered by BRE and the sole responsibility of the customer.
