Pro Touring builds seek to combine modern performance with epitomized aesthetics. LS swaps are the overwhelming favorite power plant in this genre. They are relatively easy installs and deliver great $/hp in a small, lightweight package.
Aesthetics are subjective. For purists, the typical LS looks out of place under the hood of their 1960-something Chevy. This engine is intended to bridge the aesthetic gap while still delivering tons of power with the reliability of electronic fuel injection.
The air cleaner and engine color were the first things you'd see when opening the hood of a classic car. This 408's single-plane intake manifold and throttle body replaces the carb with fuel injection while providing the same look. As this is a custom engine, you can pick the color and we'll paint it for you. Add our custom serpentine system in a diamond-cut or polished finish and you have a piece of automotive art for your classic ride. The accessory drive includes a 225 amp alternator to keep all your modern electronics fully powered. The power steering pump can be ordered with fittings for HydraTech hydraulic brake boosters.
Let's now talk about the engine. It combines parts ideally suited to purpose with precision CNC machining along with assembly and dyno testing by highly trained and skilled staff. The foundation is a 6.0L GM iron block that we digitally remastered on our 4-axis CNC mill and CNC diamond hone. The machining steps include cutting for stroker clearance to accept a 4.000"inch stroke, Callies 8-counterweight crank. The additional counterweights reduce harmonics and increase crank stiffness. The forged rotating assembly is competed with Callies rods and Diamond pistions and computer balanced. The extreme precision in balance, surface finish and dimensions manifests in more horsepower, less vibration and greater longevity.
The top end of the long block features AFR 12 degree LS3 portheads that we machine from porter castings. The vido below shows a set of these heads on our 5-axis CNC.
The custom COMP hydraulic roller cam delivers maintenance-free power and driveability. The rocker arm kit features a COMP trunnion upgrade. P1 Manufacturing head and main studs provide secure clamping force.
Finishing the top of the engine are the Holley single-plane, mid-rise intake manifold and 1,000 cfm throttle body. Underneath, the Holley retrofit oil pan allows for easy drop-in for most musclecar-era vehicles.
A Holley Terminator X engine management system controls the EFI system. It comes with the tune from your engine dyno so it is ready to fire up. The ECU has a self-learning feature which will adjust to your driving style over the first two weeks. We can make remote tuning adjustments if needed after that. The optional Terminator X-Max doubles as a transmission controller and adds drive-by-wire capability.
Your engine is delivered on an engine stand secured to an export grade wooden pallet covered by a triple-wall cardboard box.

2 All BRE engines are individually dyno tested and tuned. Atmospheric and other variations can cause results to vary +/- 2% from advertised ratings. Customers will be supplied with video of their engine's dyno along with the dyno and build sheets.
